Business Rates Payments
The Business Rates legislation lays out the
number of payments over which the annual charge can be paid. This
is known as 'the statutory scheme'.
This scheme allows for a maximum of 10 monthly
instalments. The number of instalments will be reduced if you
become liable part way through the financial year, which runs from
April to March. Any bills issued after 31 December must be paid in
full 14 days after issue.
Some people or organisations prefer to pay
half-yearly or yearly.
Payments are due on the 1st of each month from
April to January inclusive.
You can make payment by: Direct Debit, via the
internet, by telephone, by Debit and Credit card, Cash,
Cheque, Post Office Giro, in person and by post. More information on making payments.
Please note that a payment made at a Bank,
Building Society or Post Office can take up to ten days to reach
your account. If you have paid in this way and you
receive a reminder, final notice or summons, contact the Business Rates section on
01228 817234 immediately.
